Top Ten Summer Travel Essentials

Given that packing is among my least favorite parts of traveling, I’ll do anything to make it easier. For me, this means making a list! Not only does it save me time, but it also saves me from overpacking a bunch of stuff I never end up using. Here’s my list of summer travel essentials to keep my body and skin healthy when a getaway is calling my name.

Top 10 summer travel items for healthy skin & body

1. Sunscreen

This is a summer essential! Look for one that uses a clean ingredient like zinc oxide rather than oxybenzone.

2. Reusable water bottle

Stay hydrated during your travels and help the environment by using a reusable water bottle that you refill and use often.

3. Sun hat/sunglasses

A sun hat and sunglasses help protect your head, face, and eyes from the sun’s powerful UV rays. (Be sure to grab good sunglasses that offer quality UV protection. My Dollar Store glasses didn’t cut it.)

Treat yourself to sunglasses with good UV protection.

4. Lip balm

I don’t leave the house without my lip balm. An all-natural balm keeps your lips hydrated and healthy. Read more here about how to keep your lips healthy and protected from sun damage.

5. First aid kit

Drugstores sell a travel-size first-aid kit. Since it doesn’t take up much space, I pack one hoping that since I have it, I won’t have to use it.

6. Bug repellent

This is a must-have if I’m going somewhere “woodsy.” I refuse to let insects ruin a getaway.

7. Hand sanitizer

If you’re traveling, common spaces will be loaded with germs (think doorknobs, elevators, airplanes, restaurants). A travel hand sanitizer helps to kill germs and keep you healthy.

8. Foot cream

I walk a lot when I travel, so I always bring my foot (“paw”) balm with me. I massage it into my feet at night to prevent cracking and help me relax after a long day.

9. Water shoes

If you’re going anywhere that involves water activities, pack water shoes. They are great for rocky surfaces, water parks, and other places where you don’t want your feet hitting the bare floor.

10. Moisturizer

Don’t skip moisturizing your skin. I couldn’t find a lotion bar that I loved, so I created one! The brand-new, all-natural Body Balm is designed to keep your skin hydrated and smooth for longer periods of time.

Packing space is always limited so I pack travel-size portions. I prefer to use reusable, travel-size squeeze-top plastic bottles that I can refill as needed. I don’t rely on a hotel for soap, shampoo, or lotion, so I bring the brands I prefer and know are healthy for my body. Happy traveling!
